Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Travel Clinical Pharmacist to promote safe and effective pharmaceutical care in a hospital setting. In this role, you will oversee the medication-use process, identify and prevent drug-related issues, and ensure optimal patient outcomes across all age groups (neonates to adults).
Key Responsibilities
Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety based on patient diagnosis, weight/BSA, allergies, and potential drug interactions
Accurately enter medication orders into the electronic medical record (EPIC) system
Ensure timely processing and delivery of medications within established guidelines
Maintain high standards of dispensing accuracy with minimal to no medication errors
Prepare sterile products using proper aseptic technique and infection control practices
Monitor and enforce compliance with sterile compounding standards among pharmacy staff
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
Complete annual aseptic technique and infection control certification (minimum 90% score required)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. required
Licensure: Active, unrestricted Pharmacist (RPH) license in the State of Texas
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacist experience required
Pediatric experience preferred
Certifications/Training:
40 hours of accredited sterile compounding training (ACPE or ASHP) required
Technical Skills:
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records required
Additional Requirements:
Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control practices
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Ability to work variable shifts and rotating weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Clean room/sterile compounding experience
Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced hospital environment
