Full-time Job Description Job Purpose: The Learning Facilitator will work with the Program Directors in providing comprehensive support and early intervention to students to stay in school and graduate as quickly as possible. This position is responsible for coordinating support for students with faculty, Director of the Student Success Center, financial aid, registration, and ensuring that students are familiar with college life, learning in a college environment. The Learning Facilitator will coordinate all of the services that students need to be successful in college. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the success of the cohort, by major, of the students assigned.
- Plan and conduct orientation programs and group conferences to promote the adjustment of individuals to college and curriculum. Teach the New Student Orientation courses (SAC 101 – Freshman Seminar, and SAC 102 – Technology Tools for Success) per plan.
- Counsel students regarding educational issues, such as course and program selection, class scheduling and registration, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and career planning.
- Provide specialized (PSY, SW, Resp.Therapy, Business, Hospitality, ECE, CIS, etc.) academic, career, internship advising.
- Ensure that students complete their financial aid forms in a timely manner. Provide financial literacy education and support.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, institutional policies, and accreditation regulations.
- Coordinate course enrollment to ensure educational persistence and achievement of degree
- Assess needs for assistance, such as tutoring, financial aid, or additional vocational training, and refer to the appropriate support services.
- Help implement Americans with Disabilities accommodations for assigned students and secure resources to ensure success in their academic assignments.
- Counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
- Coordinate referral to Career and Transfer Center to help students apply for scholarships, work-study, jobs, internships and externships. Assist with resources to hone career development and provide enhanced learning opportunities
- Provide service administration of satellite facility/student success centers.
Skills and Specifications
- Bachelor related to assigned curriculum
- 1-2 years in post-secondary education as a student advisor
- Student-centric
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of Saturdays, and evenings.
- Technology expertise inclusive of Microsoft office, Canvas, Jenzabar, Virtual Meetings
- Communicate professionally, honestly, and effectively with academic team.
General Requirements:
- Updates job knowledge by participating in training and professional development courses.
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on removing barriers and promoting student success.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
