Clinical Pharmacist

Under general supervision, facilitates the safe, effective and economic use of drugs in a fiscally responsible manner. Reviews prescriptions, obtains clarification as necessary and regularly consults with medical staff, nursing personnel and others in order to coordinate delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services to Hospital patients.

Education

Pharm D from an accredited college or university or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy school, college or university with 0-3 years of experience.

Experience

Skills

• Thorough knowledge of current theory and practice of proper pharmacy services.
• Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, adverse drug reactions and drug interactions and ability to interpret clinical laboratory data.
• Skill in preparing intravenous admixture solutions such as parenteral nutrition formulations and chemotherapeutic agents.
• Skill in data analysis and interpretation.
• Ability or organize and prioritize the day to day activities to be most efficient when assigned to specific patient care units.
• Skill in problem assessment and resolution.
• Ability to coordinate the work of others when tasked.
• Knowledge of personnel practices such as monitoring attendance, evaluating & improving performance, and handling employee complaints.
• Skill in managing teams.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Good critical thinking skills.
• Performs other duties as required.

Licensures, Certifications

• Current Maryland State Pharmacist License.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk and stand up to one hundred percent (100%) of work time.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

Working Conditions

• Fast paced environment, which requires teamwork.
• Normal hospital environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and the like. Occasional exposure to disagreeable temperatures.

Conditions of Employment

• Potential exposure to carcinogenic materials while preparing chemotherapy medication.
