We are seeking an experienced optical engineer to join our team and lead the calibration, and testing of advanced optical systems. As an optical engineer, you will be responsible for the testing and development of the testing methodologies for complex space-based imaging systems. You will also have an operational role in the analysis of imaging data and creation of a data analysis pipeline. You will work closely with other engineers and technicians to design and develop cutting-edge optical systems. Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and theories. Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope / complexity.

Key Responsibilities :

• Work with other engineers to develop functional calibration techniques, both on bench and in vacuum of imaging systems.
• Conduct experiments and analyze data using interferometry techniques.
• Help expand Orion's calibration facilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that optical systems meet performance and cost requirements.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance to other engineers on optical design and analysis.
• Keep up to date with advances in optical technology and identify opportunities for improvement in our products.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary / hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
