About Gallatin At Gallatin, we are rebuilding defense logistics for the warfighters of the United States and allied forces. We take an AI‑first approach to improve defense readiness through software products that streamline and modernize logistics operations from factory to foxhole and result in better decisions and outcomes.

About The Role

You thrive at the intersection of clean UI execution and real‑world impact. As a Frontend Software Engineer, you craft self‑contained, reusable, task‑focused components and approach UI development with a balance of speed, quality, and empathy for the end user. While your focus is on the front end, your grasp of the entire stack is strong enough to contribute ideas, spot architectural trade‑offs, and help shape how our Navigator platform is designed end to end. You care deeply about Developer Experience, have a strong command of RESTful APIs and testing frameworks, and bring a strong sense of agency to improving code, tooling, and documentation.

What You’ll Do

Contribute to our Navigator Vue‑based frontend application

  • Build robust visual components and page layouts that integrate seamlessly with documented API endpoints
  • Modularize and improve our visual design library, which contains shared primitives, CSS tokens, icon assets
  • Support offline Progressive Web App mode for Disconnected Operations
  • Help define best practices, continuously improve CI / CD workflows, while keeping DX at the forefront!

Craft a rock solid User Experience

  • Help us shape a beautiful, high‑powered UI while keeping real‑world usability and performance constraints in mind
  • Maintain CI / CD pipeline, and check in well‑tested, production‑ready code
  • Ensure our Navigator app provides a consistent, reliable experience on both Desktop and iPad

    • Collaborate and align with cross‑functional teammates

  • Work closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams on rapid feature buildouts
  • Consistently seek balance between shipping UX features within scope while aiming for “pixel‑perfect” mockup renditions

    • What We’re Looking For

    Great problem solver

  • Familiarity with HTTP request codes
  • API request testing experience with tools such as Postman or Insomnia
  • Troubleshoot CORS issues

    • Great communicator

  • Ability to reach across discipline boundaries to help troubleshoot and test newly added API endpoints
  • Clear and concise communication, whether it’s writing technical documentation or recording a weekly demo of recent work (a Gallatin tradition)

    • Growth mindset

  • Always seeing to learn and stay current with industry trends and tools
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, and high uptime / low latency web applications
  • Experience with frontend testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Jest, Vitest)

    • Bonus Points

  • Experience mentoring and upskilling junior engineers
  • Familiarity with legacy systems and working with public sector customers
  • Comfortable setting up CI / CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
  • Contributions to open-source projects
