Mooseheart Child City and School is a residential childcare facility dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children and teens. We are committed to academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and behavioral development through our structured Model of Care.

Position Summary

Mooseheart Child City and School is seeking a dedicated Substitute Teacher / Tutor to support the academic success and personal growth of our students. This role provides instruction across content areas, works with students requiring special education services, and maintains a positive classroom environment consistent with the Mooseheart Model of Care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction aligned with curriculum and student learning goals.
  • Monitor and support student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
  • Provide academic tutoring and additional support for students struggling in coursework.
  • Support students with IEPs and diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Serve as a role model for professional behavior, communication, and conduct .

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field required.
  • Current Illinois teaching certification required (must be maintained).
  • Special Education experience strongly preferred.
  • LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) license preferred.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in behavior management and / or youth supervision preferred.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including DCFS fingerprint clearance.

    • Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $34,000 - $37,500
  • Full benefits package beginning the first of the month following hire.
