Utilization Review Nurse – Critical Need

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical RN to join our Utilization Review (UR) team. This pivotal role focuses on ensuring patients receive medically appropriate, high-quality care while supporting compliance with organizational and payer standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct clinical reviews for inpatient and outpatient cases, evaluating medical necessity using InterQual or MCG guidelines.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and insurance representatives to resolve authorization and level-of-care decisions.
• Prepare appeals for denied claims and identify trends impacting utilization.
• Support discharge planning, case management, and care coordination.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance documentation accuracy and patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience in utilization review, case management, or related nursing roles
• Experience with MCG guidelines and EPIC (preferred)
• Strong analytical, communication, and critical-thinking skills
