Registered Behavior Technician

POSITION SUMMARY :

Under the Chief Clinical Officer’s direct supervision along with programmatic support by the Behavioral Health Program manager and clinical supervision by the Director of Nursing and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the 1 : 1 Behavioral Technician is responsible for the day-to-day execution of a behavioral health plan. This includes interviewing patients, conducting follow-ups, and collecting accurate data. They also interact directly with patients who may have intellectual, neurodevelopmental, or psychiatric disorders. The Behavioral Tech will care for patient and follow physician instructions and hospital procedures. Additionally, the Behavioral Technician will monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report to clinical staff. May participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs, help with personal hygiene, and assist in compliance with taking medications as needed.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assists patients with everyday program activities.
• Completes and records patient daily behavioral logs, Modified Overt Aggression Scales (MOAS), and vital signs, in a timely manner.
• In coordination with Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) staff, ensures that patient temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure are taken and recorded as per instruction; and is knowledgeable of vital sign ranges and appropriately reports abnormalities in a timely manner.
• Communicates with CNA staff regarding ensuring patient fluid and food intake and output are appropriately measured and recorded.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living. (e.g., bathing, oral hygiene, care of hair, oral feedings, positioning, transfers, etc.)
• Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report unusual behavior or physical concerns to medical staff and nurses.
• Take and record patients' physical condition measures using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges. Performs patients' weights as ordered
• Provide psychiatric and personal care to mentally ill, emotionally disturbed, or developmentally disabled patients.
• Observe and influence patients' behavior, communicate and interact with them, teach, counsel, and befriending them.
• Encourage patients to develop work skills and to participate in social, recreational, and other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills and develop social relationships.
• Collaborate with and assist doctors, psychologists, and rehabilitation therapists working with mentally ill, emotionally disturbed, or developmentally disabled patients to treat, rehabilitate, and return patients to the community.
• Teach strategies to promote client wellness and independence.
