Position Purpose : Support student learning in GIS, Computer Science, and other classes through one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, bolstering strategic learning habits, subject matter knowledge, and confidence. Essential Functions :
Works independently and as part of a team.Tutors students in specific GIS subject matter as recommended by program leads, curriculum, and faculty in the area.Tutors students in specific CIT / Computer Science courses as recommended by program leads, curriculum, and faculty in the area.May tutor / coach in other areas with significant experience or expertise.Mentors peer / student tutors as assigned.Assists students to work through assigned materials or self-instructional modules.Observes and diagnoses areas that are causing the student problems in their course assignments, work, or personal correspondence or communication.Discusses problem areas with students and provides explanation, clarification, reference materials or examples.Reports needs and issues to the Academic and Tutoring team as needed.Problem solves and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards (training provided); maintains confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.Other duties as assigned.Equity and Inclusion

Physical Demands / Working Environment : This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. Work may require sitting for two (2) to three (3) hour periods, working in a variety of spaces (small conference spaces, large open spaces, computer labs, etc.) This position may work independently in the GIS or CIT lab for some evening or weekend hours.
