Junior Financial Auditor

Our client, a nonprofit organization, is looking to add a 3–6-month temporary Junior Financial Auditor role for their Boston, MA office. This role requires a strong background in financial analysis and investigative accounting, along with advanced Excel skills and a comprehensive understanding of both cost and revenue accounting practices. The position is heavily focused on reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling complex financial data from multiple systems and source documents.

Compensation : $20-$22 per hour

  • salary listed not guaranteed – potential offers vary based on experience level, qualifications, and internal equity and may be outside of this range.

Applicants must be able to work onsite 5 days per week in Boston to be eligible for this position.

Responsibilities :

  • Compile, review, and reconcile contractor and vendor expense records with related funder reimbursements.
  • Investigate discrepancies and collaborate with accounting and program staff to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct financial analyses to verify proper expense-to-revenue alignment and compliance with funder and internal requirements.
  • Prepare and document reconciliation summaries, reclassification reports, and supporting evidence for audits and management review.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and assist with additional project-related tasks as needed.
  • Qualifications :

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • One to three years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis.
  • Experience with financial reconciliations, grant funding, or nonprofit financial reporting preferred.
  • Strong analytical, Excel, and communication skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
