Summary

Millington First Baptist Church is seeking a Worship Pastor to lead an intergenerational congregation in God-honoring worship and shepherd a vibrant music ministry. This role directs all aspects of the worship ministry, including a 60-voice choir, 30-piece orchestra, praise teams, and congregational worship, while discipling leaders and fostering a culture of biblical excellence. The Worship Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor in planning weekly services, recruiting and equipping volunteers, and providing pastoral care to those within the worship ministry and broader congregation.

A great match for this position would be :

• An ordained (or ordination-track) minister with a bachelor’s degree in music or worship (seminary degree strongly preferred) who demonstrates Christ-like character, spiritual maturity, and lifestyle consistent with 1 Timothy 3 : 1-7.
• A gifted vocalist and conductor with at least 3 years of experience leading congregational worship, choir, and orchestra in a church setting—ideally with 1,000+ in attendance.
• A shepherd-first leader who disciples volunteers well, leads by affirmation rather than criticism, and follows the lead of the Senior Pastor as a true team player.
• A strong administrator and organizer proficient with worship planning tools (Planning Center, ProPresenter, Ableton, Multitracks) who manages staff, budgets, and volunteers with excellence and integrity.
• A humble servant who is passionate about intergenerational, blended worship—someone who draws people to Christ rather than to themselves, demonstrates stage presence without being showy, and chooses songs based on biblical content rather than trends.
• A soul-winner committed to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, devoted to Scripture personally and professionally, and equipped to teach, provide pastoral care, and engage in on-call ministry (hospital visits, funerals, counseling, benevolent needs).

About This Organization

Millington First Baptist Church relocated to its current 80+ acre property on the north end of Millington in 2004. Senior Pastor Derek Westmoreland is the third Senior Pastor since the 1970s, having served faithfully for five years. The church is now seeking its third Worship Pastor in more than thirty years.

Over the last five years, the church has experienced 90% growth, now averaging 950 in weekend attendance, with approximately 700 people actively engaged in Life Groups. The church celebrates, on average, 75 baptisms and 140 new members per year as lives are transformed by the gospel.

Millington First is a Bible-Anchored, Christ-Centered, Discipleship-Driven, and Unity-Focused family of faith with a total staff of 38, including 9 senior pastoral staff and 2 ministry associates. The congregation is multi-generational with a blend of economic levels and both white-collar and blue-collar workers. The demographic breakdown is 67% college-age and older, with 33% students and younger.

Millington First is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Tennessee Baptist Convention, and Mid-South Baptist Association, and holds firmly to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
