Summary

As an emergency response medical professional, you will provide immediate medical attention to individuals affected by accidents, violence, or sudden illnesses, including cardiac arrests and strokes. You will offer pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from the moment of initial contact until patient care is transitioned to the accepting medical facility.

Job Duties

• Represent the ambulance service at public events and provide standby services when necessary.
• Document comprehensive assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Provide medical and therapeutic support to patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic emergencies.
• Function as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate advanced medical equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and ECGs.
• Assess the severity of injuries or illnesses to prioritize critical medical procedures like stabilization and transport.
• Drive and operate emergency vehicles to designated locations while adhering to safety protocols.
• Administer medications per physician directives via injection, IVs, or orally.
• Communicate with medical personnel at treatment facilities to coordinate ongoing care.
• Clean and decontaminate the ambulance after caring for patients with infectious diseases, notifying authorities as required.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances. Frequent requirements include standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
