Electrical Service Manager Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the electrical service department
- Provide leadership, supervision, and technical support to service technicians and electricians
- Estimate, price, and approve service work including time-and-material and project-based scopes
- Produce accurate estimates of material and labor costs for repairs, installations, and construction projects
- Prepare and submit estimates with supporting documentation to customers
- Serve as primary customer-facing leader for service clients and build strong customer relationships
- Monitor and control profit/loss for assigned jobs and work orders
- Conduct field visits, job reviews, and quality checks to ensure safety, productivity, and workmanship standards
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and systems; verify accuracy of orders placed
- Prepare pay request breakdowns, monthly billing, and change order processing
- Coordinate with subcontractors, engineers, and vendors during estimating and project execution
- Utilize service management software for ticketing, tracking, and reporting
- Identify opportunities for repeat and expanded service work
- Monitor productivity and ensure work is performed in the most efficient and economical manner
- Develop local market relationships with general contractors and commercial developers
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Electrical Service Manager Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of commercial and industrial electrical experience
- Prior experience managing a service department or electrical operations
- Proven experience estimating electrical service and construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical systems and service work
- Extensive knowledge of NEC requirements and industry standards
- Proficient in reading plans, specifications, utility requirements, and equipment specifications
- Experience managing field personnel and service operations
- Strong customer service, communication, and leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
- May be required to pass additional background checks based on job location/requirements
Preferred but Not Necessary:
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license
- Experience with service management software (BuildOps, Procore, or similar platforms)
- Experience building and scaling service departments from the ground up
