Position Details

Title : Controller

Location : Long Beach, CA (Onsite)

Compensation : $190,000 - $230,000 base salary + bonus

Overview

Elevate Recruiting is partnering with a private equity–backed logistics company in seeking a hands‑on Controller to join their team. This individual will oversee all accounting operations, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process, ensuring accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP / AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including reviewing financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management & work closely on an ERP system implementation and ongoing system optimization.
  • Develop and enhance cost accounting practices, inventory tracking, and manufacturing‑related financial processes.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings.
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Assist CFO with financial due diligence, M&A integration, and private equity reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ total years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of month‑end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Public accounting foundation required; CPA highly preferred.
  • 3‑5+ years of private industry experience, preferably as a Controller or Director.
  • PE‑backed environment experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise and knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • ERP system experience, with successful implementation or system upgrade preferred.
  • Track record of building and developing high‑performing accounting teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate financial results to executive leadership and investors.
