Job Summary
The Center for Academic Community Engagement (ACE) is currently offering several ACE teaching assistant (TA) elective experiences to admitted and / or enrolled Western students in all colleges through integrated apprenticeship, laboratory instruction and mentoring during the Health Career Ladder summer experience. This TA position provides multiple opportunities for students to relay their expertise and provide mentorship to local students Pre-K through Undergrad interesting in health professions. Classroom and afternoon dispersed curriculum assistance and gross anatomy lab teaching are areas of expertise needed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Good verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact with faculty, staff, students, and any outside contacts.
2. Excellent computer skills to use various related software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, and other software programs required by the position. Required Qualifications 1 Education : Any combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. BS / BA degree high preferred
2. Experience : 1-2 years’ experience in a related field. Previous experience in and academic and / or health care setting is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to individuals possessing a bachelor’s degree. Posting Date 05 / 24 / 2024 Closing Date Special Instructions to Applicants Essential Job Duties Job Duty Follow all ACE HCL policies and procedures. Including complete an initial HCL orientation and training and attending all required HCL content-planning meetings. Percentage Of Time 15% Job Duty Conduct practical support and teaching to reinforce lessons presented by professor, including lab-based activities such as anatomy dissection and prosection guidance, instruction on diagnostic instrumentation and teaching simulators, practical physical assessment or therapeutic demonstration. Percentage Of Time 50% Job Duty Through facilitation, develop an atmosphere of mutual trust and support within the HCL community.
This includes reviewing material with students one -on one or in a small groups and at times the processing of HCL student assessment materials. Percentage Of Time 25% Job Duty Perform additional duties related to supporting SHPEP operations. Percentage Of Time 5% Job Duty Collaborate with HCL administration to handle any student issues (academic, professional, or personal). Percentage Of Time 5%
