The Position

City Council Approved and scheduled COLA adjustments :

• 4% increase to base salary, effective the first pay period following July 1, 2026
• 4.5% increase to base salary, effective the first pay period following July 1, 2027

The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position of Construction Inspector II to fill one (1) vacancy in the City Engineering Services Division of the Public Works DepartmentThe eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and / or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.

Public Works Engineering designs infrastructure elements for transportation, parking, sewer and storm drain facilities. The Engineering Division also protects private and public improvements from flood damage. The Construction Inspector II responds to service requests in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner; and records amounts of materials and work performed to construct within a budget.

The Construction Inspector II checks, evaluates, and inspects workmanship and materials on a variety of public works or utility construction projects for conformance with plans, specifications and departmental regulations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

Education : High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).

Experience : Three years of experience performing construction inspections for residential, commercial, or industrial properties.

Licenses and Certifications :

Possession of or ability to obtain, a valid Class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Highly Desirable Qualifications :

Minimum Two (2) years of experience in any combination of the following areas :

Installing or inspecting traffic signals

Installing or inspecting sewer mains

Installing or inspecting storm drains and catch basins

Installing / laying concrete or asphalt

Inspecting traffic control for compliance

Physical Demands and Working Conditions : Work is done in a standard office environment and in the field with exposure to construction materials, hazards, chemicals, and other adverse conditions. Employees may interact with upset staff and / or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
