Job Specifications
This is skilled work driving a refuse collection vehicle servicing commercial and/or residential establishments. Employees in this class are responsible for operating heavy duty large collection equipment, adhering to safe driving protocol while ensuring efficient and service-oriented job performance, and conveying a positive image to the general public. Job incumbents work independently with minimal supervision. Work is reviewed by a supervisor through inspection and observation for compliance with established personnel policy, route schedules, established routines, safety, economy of operation, and the proper utilization of assigned solid waste collection vehicles.

Minimum Training & Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and two years of experience that includes driving heavy duty equipment or solid waste collection equipment.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must complete 360 hours of City Of Tallahassee Solid Waste Driver Training within 6 weeks on one of the following trucks at the department’s discretion: roll-off truck, multi-lift truck, container delivery unit, front-end loading truck, and the curatto truck.
Salary Range
$17.9790 to $48.7873/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $24.5698/hour
Driver's License Requirements
Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at time of application and maintain a CDL as a condition of continued employment.
