The Role

Pipe fitters are responsible for installing these complex systems together on the ship and in the shop : more than 23 miles of pipe are installed on a submarine, and more than 230 miles of pipe are installed on a carrier. As a pipe fitter, you will learn to read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test the many piping systems onboard a ship. In your first few weeks at the company you will attend a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class where you will receive important information needed for you to perform your job. During your career you will also receive other training need to enhance your knowledge of the job.

Must Have

Candidates must be able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces. Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and must take and pass a respirator fit test. Must be able to work indoors / outdoors year round in all weather conditions. Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs. Must be able to pass Physical Agility Test. Qualified candidates must have at least 1 year of previous Marine Pipe Fitter experience.
