Broadcast Maintenance Engineer

Graham Media Group stations WJXT and WCWJ, in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer with a solid track record of providing excellent service and support. This hybrid broadcast / IT role supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of broadcast and non-broadcast equipment, provides hands-on field operations support, and delivers day-to-day IT and network assistance for a 24 / 7 multi-platform operation. This position reports to the Director of Technology. Candidates should be comfortable interacting with all station departments to help satisfy their technical needs. WJXT is the number one media station in northeast Florida producing 65+ hours of live news and local programming per week along with the #1 rated local news website. Key Responsibilities :

• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast and non-broadcast equipment in studios, control rooms, and mobile / remote environments.
• Support field operations, including remote productions, ENG workflows, satellite Internet, and IP live-video streaming systems (bonded cellular, SRT / RTMP, and similar technologies).
• Maintain and support network infrastructure and computer systems : switches, routers, servers, workstations, and other IT related systems.
• Provide IT support to staff : workstation setup, software updates, user support, backups, and incident response.
• Create, maintain, and update wiring diagrams, system configuration documentation, and inventory records.
• Perform preventive maintenance and testing to ensure on-air reliability and compliance with technical standards.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and IT teams on system upgrades, deployments, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and be available for occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and limited travel as required. Required Qualifications :
• Minimum 3 years of broadcast maintenance and / or broadcast IT experience.
• Technical diploma or bachelor's degree with a foundation in electronics, broadcast engineering, or information technology preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
• Proven interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• Self-starter who learns quickly and can work independently as well as part of a larger team.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to travel for remote productions and site visits. Physical & Other Requirements :
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces.
• Comfortable pulling and installing wiring, using hand and power tools, and working on small components. Desired Skills (not required)
• Experience with IP-based video workflows, NDI, SRT, bonded-cellular encoders, and live-streaming platforms.
