The Hired Guns are seeking a social-media-first Producer – Editor of Digital Video, commonly known as a “Preditor.” This is your chance to be the first hire in a newly created video team within the global content lab of a socially-minded healthcare company.

Nitty Gritty

As the first hire in this group, it’ll be up to you to establish the look and feel of video storytelling at the company. Your videos will speak broadly to multiple audiences, from consumers of a broad swath of products, to employees and corporate alumni across the globe, to shareholders. There is a hunger for rich digital video, and it will become your job to satisfy it.

You’ll be joining the Content Lab, which is a brand innovation team inside the “mothership”. So you’ll have incredible mentorship and points of view in place as to what’s needed. Additionally, you’ll be able to tap into a massive digital asset library as well as the various agency partners working to elevate the company with top-notch brand journalism.

There are three absolute must-haves to land this role : First, when it comes to creating digital video, you have to be a jack of all trades. That means you can lead and collaborate in brainstorming sessions, then quickly concept, write, direct, shoot, edit and even post in a single bound. We’re talking newsroom-speed, same-day turnaround action here. Second, to land this coveted post, you need to have a portfolio with killer examples of your social-first video work. Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter and Snapchat — you have a very strong point of view as to what works where and aren’t afraid to advocate for it. Third, when it comes to digital video, you know in your bones what consumers want to snack on and share extensively.

You’ll also be charged with developing workflows and processes around all aspects of digital video production for the Content Lab, from assigning and approving to executing and posting.

The production strategy that you develop will be a thing of beauty, both as a standalone and as part of the larger organization’s mission. Especially in the early days as things get built, you’ll nimbly zoom back and forth between large strategic concerns, mid-level blocking-and-tackling considerations, and the in-the-weeds challenges of specific projects. Thus you’ll call on a robust variety of skills, from the technical / visual chops that started you down this path to the analytical and leadership qualities you’ve developed along the way.

You can take direction from the higher-ups and turn that into shippable output, while remaining sensitive to the workings of the creative mind. You can deliver on-point, commercial videos that are social-first, without sacrificing vision or quality. You’re amazing at team collaboration as well as directing vendors, contractors and contributors.
