Position Purpose
Responsible for patient care under the direction of a surgical provider assisting in procedures such as Mohs and excisions. Duties include but are not limited to patient intake, procedure set-up, surgical assistance, and other administrative duties.
Role and Responsibilities
- Rooms patient and verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
- Collects and processes blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimen for laboratory testing in compliance with CLIA regulations.
- Explains treatment procedures, medications, aftercare, and providers’ instructions to patients.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments and utilize sterile technique when assembling surgical trays.
- Documents patient visits and records appropriate charges for the billing department.
- Performs follow up calls to patients after their surgical procedures.
- Assists providers as they examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials, giving injections, removing sutures, or phlebotomy.
- Cleans examination rooms and other work areas and stocks inventory as needed.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or EquivalentKnowledge of basic medical terminology.Friendly, polite, and professional.Clear communication skills.Proficient with an EMR system (Electronic Medical Records) preferably Nextech.General Dermatology MA experience.PREFERRED SKILLS
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Ability to multitask and manage time wisely.ADDITIONAL NOTES
Must be flexible and willing to travel to other surgical locations when neededWill be assigned to surgical shifts primarily; general dermatology shifts will be offered if surgical shifts are not available.Schedule consists of 3 days of 12-hour shifts / week from 6 : 45AM-7 : 15PM
