job_description.job_card.job_descriptionBachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with a minimum GPA of 3.5 Minimum 3 years of experience in design, analysis, or manufacturing engineering Experience creating 3D models using industry-standard 3D CAD packages with SolidWorks Experience drafting, reviewing, or interpreting 2D mechanical drawings Experience with mechanical analyses (FEA, structural and thermal) Self-motivated and able to work productively and independently in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary team Support system and subsystem level analysis, design, documentation, configuration management, test, and evaluation to include mechanical component analysis, selection, tracking, and integration. Experience collaborating with multidisciplined team members. Good attention to detail, follow-through, and time-management skills Demonstrated good verbal / written communication skills & proactive inter-personal initiative Experience with engineering support to NASA and DoD manufacturing Experience designing to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards Ability to acquire a DoD Secret (or greater) security clearance (or interim) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel.

Qualis LLC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Group at our Huntsville, AL office. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing space-related mechanical systems for radios, antennas, and power equipment. This is a position that requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and experience with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or test engineering. You will work closely with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and researchers to design and optimize mechanical prototypes / systems for a wide range of applications in a rapid-prototype environment.
Essential Duties :
- Designs mechanical parts and assemblies, including 3D CAD modeling
- Performs engineering analyses, such as weight and center of mass, structural, transportability, or thermal
- Understands mechanically based requirements and verification
- Communicates with suppliers and customers to exchange technical information
- Collaborates with other functional areas on various aspects of product design / documentation
- Creates and delivers engineering briefings or reports to support design reviews and activities
- Develops and participates in briefing materials for milestone stakeholders.
