Position Summary :

Responsible for the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. Sterile Processing supports patient care through the decontamination, sterilization and distribution of instrumentation and equipment required in various patient care settings throughout the medical center. Leads the coordination of activities in the department through the appropriate utilization of all resources : staff, equipment, supplies, etc. Serves as a resource in the decontamination and sterilization to the medical center staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

• Responsible for the daily operation of the department.
• Assists the manager with hiring, orienting, evaluating, counseling, rewarding and disciplining staff.
• Prepares staff schedules, assigns duties, and monitors productivity.
• Works in collaboration with other members of the leadership team to ensure staff participates in orientation and mandatory continuing education programs.

5. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, and safety guidelines and regulations.

6. Identifies problems related to the functioning of the department, recommends solutions, and takes corrective action to resolve them.
