Robert Half is partnering with a leading law firm in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Controller. This position offers an opportunity to lead and improve financial operations while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and expertise in full-cycle accounting to manage our financial processes effectively. This direct hire position can be based in either the Baton Rouge or New Orleans office.

Responsibilities :

• Supervise the daily activities of the accounting and billing departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to maintain organizational compliance.
• Perform reconciliations for operating and trust accounts to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for management review.
• Collaborate on budget creation and manage financial planning processes.
• Assist external accounting firms with year-end financial reporting and audits.
• Monitor and evaluate the firm’s financial performance, delivering detailed reports and data analysis.
• Provide guidance and oversight to staff within the accounting department to foster productivity and growth
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business related study.
• Experience in legal field or other professional service environments.
• Proven experience in full-cycle accounting, including managing all stages of financial processes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights.
• Expertise in accounts receivable processes and related financial management.
• Demonstrated experience in supervising and leading accounting teams.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining financial statements and reports.
• Ability to develop and enforce policies for effective financial control.
• Solid organizational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
