Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Emergency Room position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and advanced life support certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Room (ER) of an acute care hospital settingLevel 1 trauma center with 65 private beds and 2 trauma baysPatient population includes all ages from newborns to elderly with conditions ranging from minor to critically ill, including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, and heart attackNurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1 : 3 to 1 : 5 based on acuityTravelers primarily care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer from the trauma bayExpected to titrate and manage various critical drips, including vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medicationsUse of Phillips monitors; orientation to equipment will be providedEMR system is Epic; prior experience preferredRequires 3 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) per week, with rotating weekends and holidaysNo call requirements for travelersRare floating as 'help all' support to other unitsCare for a diverse range of emergency patients with both acute and critical conditionsWork within a team including charge nurses, nurse aides, ED techs, and respiratory therapistsSupport from monitor techs available, but ability to interpret rhythms is requiredHoliday coverage is required and determined by departmental needs and contractBlock scheduling and specific time-off requests may be accommodated based on staffing needsScrubs are required but may be any tasteful color with only solid-colored undershirtsCOVID-19 vaccination is not required for this positionLocal candidates are accepted, with different pay rates applied within a 50-mile permanent address radiusRequirements
Active IL RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years prior nursing experience requiredRequired certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), and TNCC (or TNS), all current and activeProficiency in titrating and administering critical drips is requiredGeneral nursing skills and previous ER experience necessaryPrior travel assignment experience preferredExperience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians is preferredAbility to recognize and interpret life-threatening rhythms requiredBenefits
