General Summary of Position
This role requires a dedicated Respiratory Care Practitioner to deliver high-quality respiratory care across diverse patient populations. You will utilize techniques tailored to the individual’s developmental and physical needs, as per physician orders and established standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support departmental goals and objectives, adhering to all established policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, documenting physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural dimensions, along with educational needs.
- Implement respiratory therapy treatments, managing equipment and services such as oxygen therapy, ventilators (both invasive and non-invasive), bronchial hygiene, and EKG machines.
- Utilize effective therapeutic communication and problem-solving skills to engage with patients during care.
- Review electronic medical records and physician orders regularly throughout your shift.
- Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), maintaining airways and providing necessary ventilation support.
- Enhance workflow efficiency by monitoring interdepartmental processes and suggesting improvements where needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department’s operations.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and use resources effectively.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
Associate's degree from an AMA-accredited respiratory care program (AAS Degree or higher).Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field is preferred.Experience
Less than 1 year of acute care experience; registry eligibility is required.Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) are required.Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is preferred.CPR certification for healthcare providers (BLS and NRP) is required within 90 days of hire.ACLS and other specialty certifications are required as necessary within 1 year.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of respiratory anatomy, physiology, and clinical equipment.Able to assess conditions and work effectively under pressure in a clinical environment.Experience working with patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.This position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $35.68 to $64.71.
