Senior CAD Designer - Medical Device

This job can be in Carlsbad / San Diego, Irvine / Los Angeles.

We are searching for a Senior CAD Designer for a rapidly growing medical devices company. This well funded company has a strong pipeline of electromechanical medical devices in various development stages.

The ideal candidate for the Senior CAD Designer will have a strong background in 3D CAD models, solid works, tolerance standards, and machining/manufacturing processes. The Senior CAD Designer should be comfortable with little supervision and working in a start up or fast paced environment. Candidates at different levels in their careers will be considered based on experience.

Requirements of the Senior CAD Designer:

• Certification in Mechanical design/drafting or Associates degree
• 5+ years experience in 3D CAD models and SolidWorks
• 3+ years Medical device experience
• Experience in machining and manufacturing (extrusions, plastic molding, CNC machining, tube braiding, laser machining, laser welding etc) and design for manufacturability
• knowledge of ASME Y-14.5 dimensioning and tolerance standards
• Experience with eningeering tools such as calipers and micrometers

Responsibilities of the Senior CAD Designer:

• Create 3D CAD models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
• Utilize advanced modeling techniques to generate and modify complex 3D models.
• Produce visualization images, renderings, and animations from CAD files.
• Conduct dimensioning and tolerance analysis for components and assemblies.
• Prepare documentation including parts lists, prototype assemblies, build instructions, presentations, and patent drawings.
• Maintain document revisions as necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
