Emergency Department (ED) Technician

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services the ER Technician is responsible to administer patient care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Follows the plan of care set by the registered nurse and/or physician, managing the individual needs of the patient with regards to their age and clinical diagnosis. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in the Emergency Department in order to ensure and maintaining smooth patient flow. The . Technician has specialized skills and knowledge in Emergency Care for all patients from infancy through geriatric.

Education/Training/Experience:

• CA EMT, CA Paramedic, CA CNA or Medical Assistant required –OR- Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
• BLS (Current from AHA) required
• Basic dysrhythmia certification (BART) required
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) obtained within 90 days of hire
• High School Graduate or equivilent
• One year experience in an acute care setting preferred
