About the Role

We are seeking a to join our team as an independent contractor. This role is ideal for a skilled digital storyteller who can plan, produce, and manage engaging video content across social platforms — particularly for public health and community-focused campaigns.

The right candidate will be comfortable leading creative direction, crafting messaging aligned with client goals, and create video content that resonates with diverse audiences across Southern California.

Responsibilities

• Create compelling and shareable content, including photos, videos, and graphics
• Develop short form digital video content concepts around public health issues aligned with client objectives
• Capture, edit, and publish short-form video content (Reels) and photos on-site during events, including selection of backtracks and royalty-free music
• Create engaging screen graphics, such as lower thirds, captions, and other branded video elements
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and visual identity.
• Manage day-to-day posting, engagement, and analytics for multiple social media accounts.
• Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices — particularly on Meta platforms.
• Support overall digital storytelling efforts, including campaign launches, community outreach, and event promotion.

Relevant Skills & Qualifications

• Strong real-time content creation skills — must be able to direct talent, film and edit Reels for Instagram and Facebook .
• Proficiency in video editing apps and social media management tools (e.g., iMovie, CapCut, InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar).
• Excellent visual and written communication skills.
• Understanding of community engagement, public health messaging, or nonprofit communications is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and respond quickly in dynamic environments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation — ability to travel to project locations throughout is required.
• Previous experience in digital creation and marketing, social media strategy, or content production preferred.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position. Compensation will depend on experience, project scope, and responsibilities. Based on current market data for social media and content creation work in Los Angeles County, the typical range is:

• $30–$55 per hour for standard content creation, editing, and social media management tasks.
• $45–$75 per hour for and for Instagram and Facebook.

These rates are consistent with prevailing contractor compensation for creative professionals in Southern California and may be adjusted based on experience and deliverables.
