5 rooms

5 beds

Average daily census : 2–3

Approximately 15 visits per day

Patient Population

Laboring adults

Postpartum patients

Newborns

Antepartum triage patients

Staffing & Scheduling

3×12 shifts only

Typical : 07 : 00–19 : : 00–07 : 30

Call required (volume-based)

Float required (primarily to postpartum)

Weekend requirement : every other or as needed

Scheduling type : Block / Self / Other

Orientation : 40 hours

Sterile Vaginal Exams (SVE) – REQUIRED (Hard Stop)

Nurses must be competent in both labor management and postpartum care.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year recent L&D experience

Ratios typically 1 : 1–1 : 2 depending on acuity

Must have SVE competency

Must be able to circulate C-sections

Electronic charting experience required

Community hospital experience acceptable

Teaching hospital and trauma experience optional

Additional Notes

Travelers may float to postpartum as needed

Scheduling varies with department needs
