Position Summary The Custodial Team is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, order, and overall sanitation of Just Compassion's 50-unit family shelter in Gresham, OR. Working primarily during daytime hours, this position ensures that all common areas, offices, and family spaces remain safe, hygienic, and welcoming for participants, staff, and visitors. The Custodial Team plays an essential role in supporting the shelter's trauma-informed and family-centered environment by fostering a sense of dignity and comfort for all residents through consistent care and attention to the facility's cleanliness and presentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Facility Cleaning and Sanitation
• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of all shelter common areas, including hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas, offices, and shared family spaces.
• Maintain cleanliness standards consistent with public health and safety guidelines.
• Clean and prepare vacated rooms for new families as directed by the Program Supervisor.
• Empty trash and recycling bins; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect high-touch surfaces on a daily schedule.
• Wash windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
• Restock paper goods, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items throughout the facility.
• Laundry and Supply Maintenance
• Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens, towels, and other program supplies.
• Track and inventory cleaning and hygiene supplies; notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
• Support organization and cleanliness in storage and supply areas.
• Assist with supply deliveries, labeling, and distribution of donated goods as directed.
• Facility Support and Safety
• Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly to the Program Supervisor.
• Maintain awareness of safety protocols and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Use protective equipment as required and adhere to OSHA and agency safety guidelines.
• Support the safe and efficient operation of the shelter by ensuring hallways and exits remain clear and accessible.
• Collaboration and Professionalism
• Interact respectfully with participants, staff, and volunteers while maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
• Support a trauma-informed environment by working calmly and compassionately around families and children.
• Communicate effectively with shelter staff to coordinate cleaning schedules and respond to immediate needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and safety drills as assigned.
