A single-family office in New York is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the internal accounting, reporting, and financial operations for the family’s entities and operating businesses. This position focuses on day-to-day and month-end accounting responsibilities, cash management, and financial reporting, while working closely with senior leadership. The role does not involve investment management duties and is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys a stable, well-organized environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger activity, monthly close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for the family office and related entities
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense tracking across multiple entities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, including budget versus actual analyses and cash flow reports
- Maintain accounting schedules, supporting documentation, and internal controls
- Handle cash management, bank reconciliations, and coordination of banking activities
- Work with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers to ensure accurate filings and compliance
- Support entity structuring, onboarding of new entities, and documentation of accounting policies
- Provide ad hoc reporting and operational support to senior leadership as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred5–8 years of accounting experience, ideally within a family office, private equity firm, asset manager, or public accountingStrong understanding of GAAP, month-end close processes, and multi-entity accountingExcellent organizational skills with strong attention to detailAbility to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalismProficiency in Excel and accounting systems; experience with family office or multi-entity systems is a plusStrong communication skills and ability to operate in a small-team environmentCompensation and Benefits
