Join SMS-group as our Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment, where you will hold a critical leadership position responsible for shaping and championing our safety culture. You will develop and execute comprehensive HSE programs designed to ensure full compliance and foster a deep-rooted commitment to safety and sustainability throughout the organization.

Lead and mentor safety professionals and management teams at regional Service Centers, providing expert guidance and strategic direction

Drive compliance with all company standards and regulatory requirements

Provide leadership oversight for all training programs, overseeing the development and continuous enhancement of policies, curricula, and competency verification processes

Align all initiatives with regulatory mandates, customer expectations, and industry best practices

What you'll do

• Develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure the safety of every employee and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements for multiple sites across North America
• Create and implement frameworks for conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
• Provide EHS training and guidance to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
• Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards
• Oversee and review record keeping of safety incidents, inspections, and compliance activities
• Manage the workers’ compensation program by overseeing claims, implementing preventive measures, coordinating return-to-work programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate EHS considerations into business decisions and drive sustainable practices
• Direct and evaluate third party activities
• Develop and oversee strategies for organizational learning that promote continual improvement in EHS performance
• Create and implement frameworks for effective learning from incidents, everyday work experiences, and other EHS-related events
• Standardize a uniform investigation methodology and deploy it across the business
• Utilize findings from investigations to drive organizational learning and reduce risk
• Lead a team of EHS Program Managers at all sites in North America, overseeing project execution, supporting incident investigations, and tracking corrective actions through to completion
• Drive a culture of continuous learning and safety by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and foster EHS compliance
