About the Facility - California Health Care Facility - Psychiatric Program
This facility in Stockton is a specialized prison designed to provide comprehensive medical and mental health care for inmates with significant health needs. CHCF offers a wide array of services, including chronic care management, inpatient and outpatient medical treatment, mental health counseling, and substance abuse programs. The facility is equipped to handle a variety of complex health issues, ensuring that inmates receive the necessary care to address their physical and psychological well-being. By focusing on rehabilitation and health management, CHCF aims to enhance the quality of life for its residents and support their successful reintegration into society upon release.

CHCF-PP is a dedicated unit within the CHCF facility that specifically focuses on providing inpatient psychiatric care for inmates with acute mental health needs. It offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapeutic interventions, and treatment for inmates with severe psychiatric disorders requiring intensive care. This section of the prison is located within the grounds of the prison in a separate building.

Job Type - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• The Clinical Psychologist conducts initial mental health evaluations, including assessments of criminal, psychological, and substance abuse history.
• Shall provide specific psychiatric stabilization/ongoing mental health support in a structured inpatient setting to patients with acute mental health needs.
• Perform clinically sound suicide risk evaluations using established protocols.
• Engage in crisis intervention and group psychotherapy with mentally ill inmates/wards.
• Conduct face-to-face interviews, including on cell fronts in housing units.
• Identify signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders to assess and diagnose inmate conditions.
• Develop and write clinical reports outlining diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans.
• Document all patient interactions, treatment provided, and progress notes in compliance with institutional standards.
• Maintain accurate and thorough records in accordance with CA and Correctional Facility regulations.
• The Clinical Psychologist collaborates with treatment team members and institutional healthcare personnel on complex cases.
• Establish relationships with community programs and resources to support inmates' reintegration efforts.
• Provide mental health education to inmates/wards.
• Assist inmates in applying for entitlement benefits and community services.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new treatment and rehabilitation programs.
• The Clinical Psychologist adheres to mandated reporting requirements for child and elder abuse, and threats of harm.

Job Type - REQUIREMENTS

• Doctoral Degree in Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
• A minimum of 1 year of independent clinical practice as a Clinical Psychologist within the last three years, excluding internship experience.
• Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in California.
• Maintain BLS certification from the American Heart Association or client.
