Infection Control RN Registered Nurse Quality Management 13 weeks M-F 8 hours per shift Minimum 2 years clinical experience License : State RN license required. Certifications : American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred but not necessary. Must-Have : Must have a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniques, including standard and transmission-based precautions. Description : The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities. This will be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The position will be directed by administration and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. Assist with discharge plans for residents on transmission-based precautions. Help review potential resident admissions to determine if their needs can be adequately met. Educate patients and family members on standard and transmission-based precautions. Oversee annual education for residents and families about influenza and pneumococcal immunizations. Review and analyze infectious disease laboratory reports. Consult with the nursing director to develop care plans ensuring proper aseptic techniques are implemented. Initiate transmission-based precautions for residents with communicable infections. Assist nursing services personnel in performing nursing care procedures as necessary. Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring applicable skills. Must complete and pass all annual competencies.
