Job Title: Welder/Fabricator

Shift: 1st Shift

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Pay: $24/hr.

Position Overview:

This position fabricates and assembles test chamber structural frames by following blueprints and mechanical engineering drawings. Using raw steel, the role performs MIG welding to produce structural steel frames that meet specified dimensions and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical engineering drawings accurately.
• Measure and lay out parts using tape measures and other precision tools.
• Fabricate welded sheet metal parts and structural steel frames per job folder prints.
• Perform MIG welding on structural steel and sheet metal with proper application techniques.
• Grind exterior welds smooth in preparation for finishing/painting.
• Lay out holes and cutouts to correct dimensions according to prints.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working order.
• Follow procedures and ensure all parts meet quality standards, including completing quality check sheets.
• Demonstrate knowledge of proper math functions (multiplication, division, decimal-to-fraction conversion) for accurate fabrication.
• Work under proper supervision to complete fabrication tasks safely and efficiently.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong structural fabrication experience required.
• MIG/TIG welding experience on structural steel and sheet metal.
• Preferred: previous manufacturing environment experience.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, parts lists, and quality check sheets.
• Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
