Job Summary
Serve as the departments Automation Specialist and GNSS liaison across multiple bureaus including Highway Design Construction and Right-of-Way. Advance 3D modeling and GNSS utilization department-wide ensuring consistency in hardware and software use through the development of policies procedures and QA / QC processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Associates degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in engineering landscape architecture forestry horticulture environmental studies agronomy geology soil science or earth science.
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience :
Seven years of engineering experience including two years at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician IV.
Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License / Certification :
Valid drivers license and access to transportation for field work. Applicants Motor Vehicle Record must meet minimum standards established by the hiring agency.
Special Qualifications :
Extensive knowledge and experience in land surveying and construction engineering.
Knowledge of GNSS equipment and software applications.
Working knowledge of ArcGIS preferred.
Ability to conduct training programs.
Ability to perform duties on active construction sites.

Responsibilities
Coordinate all GNSS activitiesincluding digital inspection 3D modeling GNSS hardware / software usesupporting e-Construction initiatives for Construction Highway Design and Right-of-Way.
Collaborate with contractors regarding 3D models and GNSS equipment used for automated machine guidance systems.
Work with Highway Design and CAD / D Section staff to develop processes supporting project delivery to Construction.
Maintain access to the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network for Construction and Right-of-Way.
Provide daily subject matter expertise and technical support to field and office personnel on engineering and construction automation including routine visits to active construction sites.
Develop standards and specifications for engineering and construction automation.
Conduct quality control to ensure data accuracy and proper configuration for department-wide use.
Coordinate and deliver training and documentation for integrating 3D models and GNSS into daily inspection activities.
Oversee deployment of GNSS equipment and software in coordination with the Construction Services Section.
Evaluate and implement new technologies related to engineering and construction automation.
