Job Summary
Join our dynamic actuarial team as an Actuarial Analyst, where you will play a vital role in providing analytical support and insights to our actuarial functions. You will extract and analyze data from multiple sources, helping to identify risks and estimate liabilities, while also establishing premium rates and supporting financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the actuarial team to complete incurred but not reported (IBNR) estimates and conduct rate adequacy studies, thoroughly documenting your assumptions.
Analyze results to pinpoint early indicators of trends or issues related to medical care costs.
Design and conduct actuarial studies focused on medical care costs and trends to guide decision-making.
Create and distribute routine reports that enhance IBNR calculations, pricing strategies, and financial reporting.
Extract and compile data from various systems to provide support for executive decision-making.
Research and prepare detailed reports and analyses for senior leadership, ensuring effective communication of results.
Assist in preparing claim experience reports, rate models, and reports required by state regulators.
Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year of actuarial experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
At least 2 passing Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams.
A Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
Advanced understanding of statistics and predictive analytics.
Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
Strong critical-thinking skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficient time management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects and meet internal deadlines.
Solid understanding of insurance fundamentals and key actuarial terminology relevant to your area of practice.
Consistently deliver accurate and timely work products.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables), along with other relevant software applications.
