Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry night position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and recent telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in an acute care hospital on a Med / Surg Telemetry unit (MS / Tele A3)
  • General Med / Surg patient population requiring telemetry monitoring, including cardiac patients receiving Amiodarone or Cardizem titration
  • 29-bed unit with a 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratio on both days and nights
  • Uses GE telemetry monitors with a central monitoring station tech
  • Cerner EMR is used on the unit
  • 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
  • Floating may be required to MedSurg Tele C5, B2D, or sister facility
  • Navy scrubs required for this unit
  • Floor-specific orientation provided (2 shifts on unit)
  • Responsible for providing care to general Med / Surg patients who require cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • Charge nurse and unit supervisor available; nurse aides (PCTs) present on days and one PCT or SWAT RN available at night
  • Physicians must be called for patient care issues; IV team not present but house SWAT nurse available
  • Pharmacy and respiratory therapy support available 24 / 7
  • Required to cover one major and one minor holiday during the contract
  • Dysrhythmia and Sim Lab testing are pass / fail and must be successfully completed to begin assignment
  • Returning staff not eligible if previously employed by this health system within the last year
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for traveler status

    • Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Telemetry RN experience within the past 6 months
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips is required
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam within 48 hours of offer, with up to 2 attempts
  • Must pass a simulated lab skills assessment (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes) on day one of orientation
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
