Summary Of Job Responsibilities

The tax internship position within the Corporate Finance and Accounting division of The Standard involves a wide range of duties and activities. The goal of the internship is to experience the life of a tax accountant and gain skills to prepare the student for a successful career in taxation. Activities for the tax internship at The Standard include :

• Aid in the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations (ASC 740)
• Preparation of federal and state income tax returns
• Preparation of tax adjustment workpapers
• Tax related account reconciliations
• Premium tax, sales and use and property tax returns or workpapers preparation
• Support or preparation of daily tax withholding deposits with federal and state government entities
• Preparation of quarterly information returns and analysis
• Processing tax related payments and recording of tax related journal entries
• Process improvement projects
• Observation and meeting with executive leadership
• Other duties as assigned.

During the duration of the internship the candidate will be assigned to one manager to oversee their day-to-day work, however, there may be opportunities to work with several different members within the tax department. The work will be conducted in an all-virtual remote environment.

Salary Range : $20.00 - $23.00 / hour, based on year in school
