The SFO Museum volunteer program provides support for San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, which is open daily to the public at San Francisco International Airport.
The volunteer program provides information services to the public. Volunteers at the information desk are most often the first contact that visitors have with the Museum and Library. Volunteers will be prepared to meet and welcome a diverse public and respond to their needs and interests. Visitors will inquire about library services and museum exhibitions and programs. These "meeting and greeting" duties enhance the visitors' experience and assist in their knowledge and understanding of objects on exhibition, the ideas they represent, and the resources that are available to the visitors within the library collections.
Currently, there are two volunteer shifts each day of operation. Shift 1 is 10 : 00 a.m. to 1 : 30 p.m. and Shift 2 is 1 : 30 p.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Volunteers may sign-up for one shift at a time or choose to work a full day by signing up for both. A minimum of two shifts per month and a one-year commitment is encouraged. You must be over 18 years old to sign up.
