Job Summary: Provide both direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced emergency care environment. Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and responsibility with minimal supervision. Efficiently triage patients, prioritizing care based on physical and psychosocial needs while managing patient flow effectively. Collaborate closely with Emergency Department physicians to communicate changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results. Respond promptly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses.
Essential Functions: - Deliver direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult specialists as needed, and adjust nursing care to ensure optimal patient results.
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Utilize triage processes to assign accurate categories and ensure timely, appropriate care.
- Assess and reassess pain effectively, applying suitable pain management techniques and educating patients and families.
- Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret results accurately.
- Demonstrate cardiac monitoring knowledge, identify dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate treatment.
- Conduct waived point-of-care testing per clinical policies and interpret results to take necessary actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications and administer them correctly according to patient age and condition, adhering to medication rights to minimize errors.
- Prepare, hang, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids as required.
- Maintain thorough and accurate nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments.
- Ensure patient safety and reduce healthcare errors in all aspects of care.
Education and Experience Requirements: - Graduate of an accredited nursing program with up to six months of RN experience.
- Current RN license valid in the practicing state.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within one year of hire.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within one year of hire.
- Minimum of one year of Emergency Department RN experience preferred.
Professional Requirements: - Maintain all regulatory requirements and certifications.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours and complete tasks within designated timelines.
- Communicate courteously and respectfully with patients, guests, and staff.
