Lte Intern - Vita Scheduler

The Dane County Extension Department has a limited term vacancy for an LTE Intern - VITA Scheduler in Madison, WI. Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week. The Tax Assistance Site Scheduler will answer the phone and schedule appointments for the public at the Richard Dilley Tax Center Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparation site. Work Hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM, Monday Friday.

Definition

Assist with program development, planning, outreach and / or operations under the direction of Extension Educators.

Examples of duties

Work with Extension Educators to organize and prepare for programs. Partner with other Extension educators, County departments, volunteers and community partners to support educational initiatives, including planning, developing, coordinating, administering and evaluating educational programs. Team with collaborators to create outreach and marketing materials. Participate in outreach efforts for volunteers. Make all reasonable efforts to reach diverse audiences and ensure access to programs. Maintain records and prepare reports as requested. Provide customer service to the public as needed for program support.

Education, Training and Experience

Any combination of education, training and / or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma / GED and work or volunteer experience with socially, economically and / or ethnically diverse populations; and demonstrated ability to value individual and cultural differences.

Special Requirements

Must possess a valid drivers license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent, allowing access to and from work sites. Must be available evenings and weekends as needed for programs.

Background Check Statement

Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the jobs responsibilities. Wisconsins Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 111.395, Wis. For Bilingual Positions

Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job.

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements

Typical office environment. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Good visual acuity and hearing with or without corrective devices. Ability to sit / stand for prolonged periods. Prolonged phone and computer use.

Excellent customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft office and other computer programs. Ability to organize and work productively with minimal supervision. Knowledge of and / or ability to learn standard office equipment operation. Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with fellow workers, agency partners, volunteers and the public. Ability to perform assigned functions with a minimum of error.
