Conservation X Labs (CXL) seeks a passionate and enthusiastic innovator-a Development Coordinator-to help drive our organizations growth and impact by rapidly scaling up our fundraising success. CXL seeks to solve the world's greatest conservation problems by supporting innovative solutions that address the underlying drivers of extinction. We create solutions to prevent the extinction crisis through developing new technology in our labs, leading innovation competitions, and empowering talented innovators across disciplines to create transformative products that serve people and our planet. But to accomplish our ambitious goals, we need a development and fundraising operation that meets the moment.

About Conservation X Labs Inc

Our mission is to prevent an impending sixth mass extinction - the first in Earth's history driven by the actions of a single species : ours. Unlike traditional conservation efforts, Conservation X Labs focuses on leveraging the best technology, the newest innovation, interdisciplinary genius, and the power of the marketplace to boldly confront the biggest problems facing the planet. Though humans have driven this sixth extinction, we know humans have the power to reverse it.

Description

The Development Coordinator will play a crucial role in making CXL's fundraising and donor cultivation a truly world-class effort. As CXL strengthens and scales its development operations, the Development Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring our team delivers a best-in-class donor experience. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, tech-forward, and eager to build expertise across development systems and donor operations. The Development Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support to both leadership and the Development team with a core focus on Salesforce CRM, donor research, donor acknowledgments, gift processing, and department-wide administrative support. This position will require lots of unglamorous work, solving the little problems and addressing the details that the whole team needs. The ideal candidate is proactive, systems-minded, and brings both curiosity and rigor to their work.

As we are looking to build a 100-million-dollar organization in ten years with global impact, we need someone with the skill set not only for today, but to create the foundation for the organization that we hope to become.

ARE WE LOOKING FOR YOU?

  • Are you creative and scrappy?
  • Do you live your life as if "No one's a stranger?"
  • Can you solve difficult and unexpected problems?
  • Are you technologically fluent?
  • Can you take a systems approach to organizational needs?
  • Do you see the big picture while sweating the details?
  • Are you excited to glue a team together by ensuring the backbone of data and systems are populated and functioning?
  • Do you like to have fun at work?
  • Are you forward-thinking, creative, innovative?
  • Are you always willing to lend a hand?
  • Do you disdain orthodoxy for the sake of orthodoxy?
  • Do you care about ending extinction?
  • Do you live in, or are willing to relocate to, the Washington, D.C. area?

If you said yes to all of the above, then please read on!

What You Will Contribute :

In this role, you really will play an important role in ensuring our development and fundraising efforts are effective. This means working closely with the co-founders and leadership of the organization, working with our board and partners, and working with donors to ensure that CXL is regarded as the best place to fund for the future of nature. There will be a lot of grunt work, repetitive, crucial tasks and activities that ensure everyone has the information and resources they need to be able to develop creative, truly transformative approaches to ending extinction!

Key activities will include the following, but are surely to include more :

  • Be an indispensable part of the team that has raised millions of dollars.

ABOUT CONSERVATION X LABS AND OUR CULTURE

Conservation X Labs applies technology, entrepreneurship, and open innovation to source, develop, and scale critical solutions to the underlying drivers of human-induced extinction, whether in conservation or other fields. Conservation X Labs takes an approach to conservation that is technology- and innovation-focused, market- and scale-driven, and interdisciplinary. We believe this approach - one that addresses the underlying drivers of extinction rather than its symptoms, and one that takes a revolutionary over evolutionary approach - is the future of conservation, what we call Conservation 3.0. We source, develop, and scale new solutions through open innovation, directed engineering and technology development, product acceleration, and building the diverse community of solvers that will transform the field. Conservation X Labs operates as both a 501c3 non-profit organization and a related B-corporation.

We are seeking to build an organization of problem solvers, who are personable and highly motivated, hungry and enthusiastic, and are passionate about conservation and our mission. We want people who want to disrupt conservation in order to radically improve it. We are looking for those who have dared mighty things by trying a path that others have not chosen. We are looking for those who have failed but have learned from failure and risk. We are looking for those who like to experiment, to make things, to hack things, to test things, and to break things (particularly dogmatic approaches to conservation or technology). Finally, we are looking for kind, hardworking people who will enthusiastically devote their intellectual and creative energy to advance our mission, enjoy working on a team, are deeply entrepreneurial and self-motivated, and are driven by their passion.

CXL is committed to creating and cultivating a diverse workforce and inclusive environment where every employee and contractor has the right to work in surroundings that are free from all forms of unlawful or intentional discrimination. It is our policy to hire, promote, transfer, terminate, and make all employment related decisions without regard to race, creed, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
