School Counselor Greensboro

Primary Role:

To help all students develop skills in the areas of personal-social growth educational planning and career/vocational development

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree
• Current North Carolina counseling license or be in process of obtaining
• Previous counseling experience with children is preferred

Skills:

• Ability to plan coordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of student programs
• Highly organized and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task giving priority to the most important duties
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Friendly and able to interact professionally and positively with staff students parents and community members
• Computer skills should include at a minimum keyboarding email databases Word and Excel

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow all Board policies
• Maintain confidentiality of all student parent and staff information
• Establish the school counseling program and develop activities and resources to implement the program
• Coordinate counseling services for students
• Provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental preventive and remedial needs of students
• Consult and collaborate with parents teachers and other staff members to assist in meeting the needs of students
• Monitors student academic performance behavior and attendance and facilitates appropriate interventions
• Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession
• Provides intervention strategies to teachers
• May serve as a 504 Coordinator or a member of an IEP team
• Coordinate the efforts of support services and outside agencies
• Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse or neglect
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor/administrator.
