ESSENTIAL DSP / Direct Support JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Direct Support Professional, you support the individuals receiving services from SIRS to...

• Achieve goals the individual selects.
• Achieve as much independence as possible.
• Feel supported in daily living to create a safe & healthy life.
• Make each day the BEST day.
• Depending on position, this could include assisting individuals with activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring while encouraging the individual to perform as much self-care as possible. Understanding and utilizing adaptive equipment including wheelchairs and belts / locks, Hoyer lifts, etc. and be able to securely load and unload clients’. (Note : Not applicable to all positions.)
• Driving individuals to daily appointments, work, day programs, recreation events, and stores as needed.
• Completing medication records and counts.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for individual(s). Performing general housekeeping and teaching / supporting individual(s) to perform housekeeping.
• Completes all trainings including new hire, on the job and annual trainings within the designated timeframe.
• Understands and follows proper physical safety and emergency protocols.
• Completes all documentation accurately and timely.
