About The Role :

Join Outschool and help redefine the future of education by leading the engineering team focused on our core initiative. As Engineering Manager, you'll play a critical role in advancing Outschool Memberships and building innovative solutions that make alternative education (Alt-Ed) more accessible and engaging for families and learners everywhere.

This is a unique opportunity to bring both your technical depth and leadership acumen to a high-impact team shaping how families discover, consume, and stay engaged with learning on Outschool. You'll work at the forefront of experimentation and iteration to build engaging experiences that turn students into lifelong learners.

Outschool saw exponential growth during the pandemic, scaling 15x to meet the needs of a global community of learners. We're now in a pivotal chapter-investing in deeper, more seamless educational pathways to serve evolving family needs.

As the Engineering Manager your contributions will directly impact our mission to inspire kids to love learning by making high-quality, interest-based education more discoverable, consumable, and engaging.

You might be a great fit for this role if :

• You have experience as an engineering manager in a fast-paced startup or growth-stage company, and enjoy supporting teams through change and scale
• You bring strong technical judgment and a track record of leading engineering teams that ship impactful products quickly and iteratively
• You're passionate about education, access, and user experience, and motivated by a mission-driven environment
• You demonstrate strong interest in hands-on experience with applying artificial intelligence for features like personalized learning experiences, smarter content discovery and educational recommendations
• You enjoy balancing technical decision-making with coaching, and you're committed to building inclusive, high-performing teams
• You excel at owning and driving engineering roadmaps; collaborating with cross-functional partners to prioritize initiatives, align with business objectives, and ensure timely, high-quality execution

Outschool is recruiting for this role in the Bay Area, and sets employee salaries to reflect local compensation and cost of living. Only candidates located in the Bay Area will be considered for this role. The salary range for this position would be $225,000 -$280,000 USD.
