Position Title : Material Handler III
Duration : 2026-02-23 to 2026-08-23
Pay Rate : $ 33.98 / hr
Position Summary
Under limited direction from the Receiving Lead, the Material Handler III independently performs advanced material handling duties within a Central Receiving environment. This role is responsible for inspecting, accepting, barcoding, documenting, and processing materials delivered to the receiving unit.
The position requires daily interaction with internal teams and external partners such as vendors, freight forwarders, Procurement, and Property Management personnel. The role supports a wide range of commodities, from office supplies to high-value equipment, and processes materials associated with system contracts.
A strong understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, material handling practices, and advanced computer proficiency is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Receipt Processing (40%)
- Enter receipt information into the receiving system.
- Generate barcodes using a package tracking system.
- Assign and affix property numbers for high-value and sensitive items (>
$10,000).
Enter required property information into the asset management database.Ensure proper refrigeration and same-day delivery for perishable items.Ensure hazardous shipments are manifested and segregated per DOT regulations.Stage materials for delivery by the transportation unit.Dock Operations Support (30%)
Offload and inspect incoming shipments from freight carriers.Verify shipment accuracy against driver manifests.Document freight damage or discrepancies on freight bills.Stage materials by size, urgency, and shipment priority.System Contract Receiving (20%)
Process materials ordered through system-based contracts.Scan vendor shipments onto transportation carts using the receipt function.Miscellaneous Duties (10%)
Process notification receipts for items delivered directly to requesters.Provide receipt status updates to requesters.Assist in resolving vendor and procurement receipt issues.Maintain receiving files and documentation.Support mailroom operations when needed.Required Qualifications (Essential)
Minimum 2+ years of experience in a receiving / material handling environment using industry-standard receiving software.Advanced computer and data entry skills; experience with email systems, templates, and file management.Familiarity with receiving or inventory management systems.Experience with barcode technology.Minimum 2 years of experience operating material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies.Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification within 6 months.Strong understanding of DOT hazardous material handling regulations.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks.Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and frequently lift / carry up to 25 lbs.Valid driver's license.Knowledge of materials typically used in operational or technical environments.
