Director - Space Ground Systems
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Director, Space Ground Systems business area. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nations fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The position will be responsible for all aspects of business performance and strategy for space ground systems to include profit / loss and customer relationship management.
Representative duties and tasks include :
- Directing a business segment consisting of multiple disciplines, programs, products, and / or customers to meet current and long-term business objectives
- Responsible for customer satisfaction, leadership, overall performance, schedule, and profit and loss of large programs, or a portfolio of programs and / or products throughout the entire program life cycle
- Ensuring creation of well-constructed, comprehensive business plans
- Establishing strategic plans and objectives in coordination with others
- Evaluating and analyzing the functional area plans and the impacts of these plans on the business
- Reviewing organizational capabilities, and development / execution of strategies, to improve the competitiveness of the organization through actions such as professional growth & development, strategic hiring, strategic partnering, and acquisitions
- Conducting reviews to drill down into issues on products / programs, identify issues, develop corrective actions, and communicate issues, impacts and corrective actions to program teams
- Developing personnel to ensure efficient operation
- Conducting business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representatives
- Developing and executing proposal plans and strategies
- Effectively engaging in complex negotiations involving critical matters
- Developing customer relationships and developing new business within the market / program
- Coordinating the patent and data rights for the products / programs / proposals / subcontracts
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include :

Engineering degree in a discipline related to space ground technologyDemonstrated intimate working knowledge of government acquisition processStrategist with proven ability in business developmentMust be able to travel up to 20% of the timeExperience leading technical development teamsExperience leading remote teams spread among sitesSalary note : This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. Combined salary range : USD $245,665.00 - USD $265,817.00 / Yr.
