Duties include providing management and direction to the Wireless Infrastructure and Communications Operations Team in the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of the City's wireless infrastructure and communications systems and equipment; monitoring performance of the radio system and providing reports to the Division Chief and system partners; managing Information Technology integration with city engineers on project related issues; analyzing, selecting and overseeing the work of outside contractors; preparing and working with the Division Chief on the budget for the radio system; developing and implementing a periodic preventative maintenance program; and overseeing and monitoring the technical assistance and training of all departments users of communication systems. Additional duties include managing contractors by evaluating RFPs, reviewing contract deliverables; and maintaining accurate licensing and MOU documentation for FCC and agency compliance. This position will supervise approximately five employees. A Bachelors degree or equivalent with major course work in computer science, information systems or a closely related field and five years of experience with communications equipment and systems, including at least two years of supervisory experience required. NIMS 100-200-400-700-800 training will also be required. Candidates will be subject to a CJIS criminal history check and must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
